We Have Moved!
Kal-Tone has moved! We left our downtown mall location July 15th, and will re-open early August once construction is completed. The new, larger shop location is at 1501 Fulford St, 2 miles from the old location, and with much easier parking I might add. We will open by appointment starting August 8th. Feel free to call/email/text us your questions.
Stringed Instrument Services
We offer full service restorations and repairs. We have extensive professional experience with all types of fretted instruments, including conservation work on museum pieces (Hendrix, Dylan, Hank Williams Sr.).
We offer free evaluations for instrument repairs with cost and time estimates. Detailed written appraisals for insurance or valuation are available for a nominal fee.
We have a small selection of new and vintage instruments available, as well as strings, cables, picks, humidifiers, tuners and other parts that players always need. And special orders are no problem!
Luthier Ry Charters has been building guitars since 1998, and has distilled that experience into the "Kal-Tone Instrument" line. Using local woods, old hand tools, and CNC when precision really matters, we will fashion a Kalamazoo-made guitar just for you!
Looking for a guitar instructor? Jay Gavan is accepting students, whether beginners or more advanced players who wish to expand on their abilities.
